THE NORMAN ROCKWELL EXHIBIT PRESENTED BY THE ARLINGTON GALLERY

The Norman Rockwell Exhibit is located on Historic Route 7A in Arlington, Vermont, halfway between Bennington and Manchester, home town of Norman Rockwell from 1939-1953. We have several rooms of exhibits ,displays, and a large gift shop.

We have working with us several of Norman Rockwell's former models that posed for his pictures. They are always happy to answer questions or sign autographs. The exhibit is housed in an old Catholic church built in the mid 1800's. We have a casual atmosphere and generally have a lot of fun with our visitors.

This is the place if you want to go canoeing. To see the splendor of Vermont at its best, this is one great way to do it. If you don't know how or have never been, we'll be happy to take you!

Let our wonderful friend guide Sharon take you on a tour of sites you may never have seen before. Imagine your wedding party on a tour as a gift from you. What better way to create a memory!

Kimberly Farms Riding Stables
Another great way to see the area is on horseback! These folks also have many trail riding events and classes going on all the time!

Wow! The Southern Vermont Art Center offers art classes. Or see the most amazing in local art. Ask us about free passes.

Hildene

In 1902, Robert Todd Lincoln, the eldest son of President Abraham & Mary Todd Lincoln, hired a Boston architectural firm to build a stately home on a promontory overlooking the Battenkill valley in Manchester, VermontThe site he chose commanded sweeping views of the valley bordered by the Taconic Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the eastHis magnificent Georgian Revival style home was completed 3 years laterRobert Todd Lincoln named his new home Hildene meaning "hill" and "valley".

Hildene would be Mr. Lincoln's summer home for the next 21 years and would be the only house in America where all of Abraham Lincoln's descendants would eventually resideMary "Peggy" Lincoln Beckwith, a great-granddaughter of Abraham Lincoln would be the last of the President's descendants to live at Hildene. She occupied the home until 1975. Shortly thereafter, Friends of Hildene, a nonprofit organization was formed to oversee, "the preservation of Hildene's open land and the restoration of those buildings that best serve the public as an educational and cultural resource and as a memorial to the Lincoln family."

Today, Hildene welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world who arrive to enjoy this meticulously restored home with its elegant formal gardens and to participate in many special events held annually on the beautiful grounds of the estate.

Great cross country skiing and snowshoeing in winter.
